  • I have known Scott for 9 years in his various roles and community activities; as a professor at Wilfrid Laurier University, a City Councillor, and as our United Way's Senior Director. I was delighted to hear that he is running for Mayor in the Cambridge election this year. His communication and listening skills are exemplary. As a City Councillor, he has shown vision and leadership, and is transparent; using the media to state his values and views. He is proud of Cambridge and our community, and I know he would be a terrific, accessible mayor.

  • Scott has the proven experience, track record, and personality to be a fantastic Mayor to lead Cambridge into a brighter future.

As a resident of Ward 7 in Cambridge, I first met Scott Hamilton when I contacted the city with some concerns. Scott was quick to connect with me, helped me navigate city processes, and made sure my concerns were addressed. He was an attentive and great city councillor!

When I showed up at a city council meeting, Scott greeted me warmly and made me feel welcome and right at home. It was clear he cared about Cambridge residents and hearing their perspectives. Even when he might disagree, he listens and learns from others. He’s never judgmental or cruel.

As an economist, I understand how challenging it is to balance municipal finances with the overarching pressures that Cambridge, Ontario, and Canada, are all facing these days. Reviewing Scott’s decisions on council, it’s clear he aims at a healthy balance of protecting taxpayers’ wallets today, while understanding the need for important infrastructure and capital projects of tomorrow - as well as creating special areas and places that give a city life and make it memorable and fun. From his proposal for affordable housing over municipal parking lots, to helping seniors and youth, to his longstanding and well-documented challenging of the wasting of taxpayer dollars at the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT), Scott is able to navigate new complexities of today’s turbulent markets while keeping the spirit of Cambridge strong and thriving.

As an African Canadian in Cambridge, I am convinced that this great city needs progress grounded in compassion, accountability, and fiscal responsibility. The city needs stability through leadership that is steady, inclusive, thoughtful, and capable of bringing people together during challenging times marked by high tariffs, rising unemployment, and a growing housing crisis. Scott’s leadership offers hope for a Cambridge that works for all of us. I am certain that Scott will turn progress to prosperity, stability to sustainable growth, and hope into lasting happiness for all residents.

I wholeheartedly support Scott Hamilton for Mayor of Cambridge.

  • Scott Hamilton. With an intelligent and reasoned approach to dealing with obstacles that arise, Scott has a way of turning them into opportunities, by thinking outside of the box. This often surprises people who initially react negatively, but later recognize the forward thinking behind the decision. His extensive education and varied employment path have given him a broad understanding of the importance of community. Scott is outgoing, involved, communicative. He greatly cares about our community. As Mayor his vision for our city will help guide us forward, to deal with the many complex difficulties our city faces. I endorse Scott for Mayor.

  • It is my pleasure to formally endorse Scott Hamilton for Mayor of the City of Cambridge. I have witnessed his professionalism, clarity, and composure in council meetings and in his interactions with the public. Scott is well educated, articulate, and genuinely committed to our community.

Cambridge needs a Mayor who is fiscally responsible, a strong and credible voice at both the municipal and provincial levels, and someone who represents all members of our community with integrity. Scott embodies these qualities.

I would be proud to see Scott Hamilton serve as Mayor of the City of Cambridge.

  • I'd like to offer my full support and endorsement to Scott Hamilton for the next City of Cambridge mayor. I care very deeply about my city, we have raised our children here and my husband was a civil servant in Cambridge for 32 years, we are invested in this community. Cambridge deserves an outstanding person like Scott to serve as mayor. His stellar education in Political Science -- a Masters Degree from Oxford University and a PhD from the LSE, gives him a solid foundation of knowledge to lead and guide in municipal politics. His good character can be seen in his record of voting as a city councillor, in tasks such as affordable housing, 'housing over parking', and in his thoughtful approach to homelessness and addiction -- listening to local experts, and defending human rights. He is inclusive and represents all in our community. He is non-partisan, belongs to no political party, and supports aspects of all political parties that can make our community better. He's an energetic guy with school-age kids who cares about our community - and understands how expensive it is to raise a young family. I truly believe Scott will advocate and work for what's in the best interest of our incredible city of Cambridge. Change is good and we are due for positive change!

  • Leadership at the municipal level requires more than popularity or ambition. An effective mayor must combine integrity, sound judgment, and the courage to make complex decisions in the long term interest of the community. Above all, it requires a steady hand—someone who understands that progress is built through collaboration, accountability, and respect for the people they serve.

These are the qualities the Farnan family has always valued in public leadership. These are the qualities we find today in Scott Hamilton.

My father, Mike Farnan, devoted much of his life to building people and organizations by recognizing potential before it was widely acknowledged. He believed strongly that leadership is defined not by title, but by character, discipline, and an ability to earn trust. My father was certain of Scott’s capacity to lead—recognizing in him a rare combination of thoughtfulness, capability, and commitment to public service.

My father saw in Scott the traits that matter most in a mayor: a respect for differing viewpoints, a clear sense of responsibility, and the ability to guide complex decisions with fairness and resolve. He believed Scott possessed both the temperament and the moral compass necessary to unite a growing city while remaining grounded in its values.

It is in that spirit that the Farnan family expresses our full confidence in Scott and his ability to serve as Mayor of Cambridge. We believe he represents the kind of leadership our city needs: principled, capable, and focused on building a strong, sustainable future for all residents.

Scott believes in good governance, community well-being, and acts with integrity. I am pleased to endorse Scott Hamilton for Mayor.

  • As a former Regional and Municipal Councillor for over three decades, I have had the privilege of serving Cambridge and seeing firsthand the qualities that make an effective local leader. I am proud to endorse Scott Hamilton for Mayor.

Scott brings a strong understanding of our community, a practical approach to problem-solving, and a genuine commitment to the people he serves. He understands the importance of balancing economic and housing growth with protecting the character of our city, supporting local businesses of all sizes, strengthening neighbourhoods, and ensuring municipal decisions are made with transparency and accountability.

Leadership at the municipal level requires someone who listens, collaborates, and is prepared to make thoughtful decisions that reflect the needs of residents today while planning responsibly for the future. Scott has demonstrated these qualities time and time again, through his community involvement, his consistent voting patterns on council, and his dedication to building a stronger, more connected city.

I believe Scott Hamilton has the experience, integrity, and vision needed to lead Cambridge and the Region of Waterloo forward, and I encourage residents to support him in this election.

  • Scott Hamilton represents the kind of next-generation leadership Cambridge is ready for, grounded, thoughtful, and forward-looking. Having already served on Council, he brings a valuable mix of experience and fresh perspective that is all too rare in municipal politics. He understands how City Hall works, but just as importantly, he understands how to build consensus and move ideas forward. His background in economics and government gives him a clear-eyed view of the challenges we face and the discipline to address them responsibly. As a husband and father, he is deeply connected to the realities of everyday life in Cambridge and the kind of city we want to build for the next generation. In my view, he combines the energy, judgment, and steadiness that the role of Mayor demands at this critical moment.

  • As an academic, I know it's important to create policies that are based on rational thinking, evidence, and a belief in listening to the experience of others. It's these qualities of Scott Hamilton that have impressed me. Scott's honesty, integrity, and the thoughtful care he brings to understanding local issues and making decisions, is the leadership Cambridge needs.  Rather than fueling division, Scott is committed to pragmatically tackling complex challenges like homelessness and housing, in ways that utilize local expert advice, demonstrate progress, and uplift all of Cambridge - including the most vulnerable. Scott's a Mayor for everyone, and I wish him the best.

  • My name is Jane Farnan, and my (late) husband was the honourable Mike Farnan – a Cambridge City Councillor, Member of Provincial Parliament and Ontario Cabinet Minister, and a dear friend to countless Cambridge residents.

When I heard Scott Hamilton had decided to run for the mayor of Cambridge in this coming 2026 municipal election, I was so excited. A short story – and photo – will help explain why.

I took this photo of Scott at Mike’s bedside, when Mike was dying – in the very last stage of his cancer. Scott had visited Mike numerous times – but on this occaision, he drove straight to Cambridge from a work conference he was attending in Ottawa, because Scott knew it was his last chance to say goodbye to his long-time mentor – and his friend – who had dedicated his life to public service and helping others.

At his bedside, I watched these two men talk – about old times, and the future ahead – and they held hands firmly. A quiet moment, and to me it just felt like a promise was made; Scott, to follow his mentor’s footsteps, helping people and helping Cambridge. As a young man with a growing family that’s truly invested in the city’s future, Scott Hamilton has committed all his energy to listening to people and helping others -- for the past six years as a city councillor, and most recently as Senior Director at our local United Way charity. Scott makes a remarkable contribution to the city of Cambridge, and I am thrilled he wants to do more.

Scott is intelligent, compassionate, and deeply committed to making our city better. As a working father with two young kids, he understands the affordability challenges people face, and he has the passion to work towards real solutions that can bring balance back to the city and its operation.

Scott’s knowledge, his ability to listen to experts and integrate their ideas into real action, and his work experience and vision, make him an excellent choice to lead our city into the future.

I am proud to support Scott Hamilton for Mayor of Cambridge – just as Mike Farnan did before his passing. Scott brings fresh ideas, energy, and a real commitment to improving our community for the future ahead. His calm leadership, steady vision, and his willingness to listen to all sides of an issue, make him someone who can inspire positive change for everyone.

-Jane Farnan, Cambridge Resident (Mike Farnan's wife)

  • We need more people like Scott in elected life, and I'm proud to endorse him as a candidate for the next Mayor of Cambridge.

Not only does Scott have a blend of positivity, pragmatism, and hopefulness that benefits us all, but he believes government should do more to support all residents - including those who often get left behind, from those living unsheltered to those who need more affordable housing, are food insecure, or suffering from addictions and health crises.

From more affordable housing to beautification projects in Cambridge, Scott’s had an outsized impact as a city councillor.

It’s important for Cambridge to be represented at the regional level as a partner, and Scott has the diplomatic and collaborative background and personality to help Cambridge thrive, as a key collaborator with the region - not a competitor.

-Mike Morrice, Community Leader, Former Green Party MP for Kitchener Centre 2021-2025

  • After owning a small business for 24 years, I feel I understand the economic challenges facing Cambridge today. This is why I support Scott Hamilton as Mayor.

Not only does Scott truly 'shop local' in Cambridge -- he's a regular in the downtown, visiting shops with his family -- but he understands the challenges of economic development today -- for instance, that we need more people in our cores to sustain businesses, attract tourists, and create a fun vibe that benefits all residents.

Scott listens to the business community, and his actions on council show this. His leadership will help Cambridge prosper -- for residents and businesses alike. I'm proud to support him as Mayor.

    -Chris Chettle, Small Business Owner

  • Now is the time we need Scott Hamilton as mayor of Cambridge! At a time when there are so many pressures for increased polarization, we need the style of leadership embodied by Scott Hamilton: respectful to people across the political spectrum and with the skills to address current issues with creativity, knowledge of evidence-based politics and perseverance.

Municipal democracies have the most impact on the quality of life of citizens because cities in Canada provide so many essential services and determine the relationship of citizens to the place where they call home. The Mayor of our city represents us provincially and regionally and also has a key leadership role at City Council and with city staff. There are opportunities for our city to be represented as municipalities and mayors across the province share perspectives and collaborate on shared concerns, expanding municipal collective influence at provincial and federal levels. Regional Council co-operation has never been more important. Locally, the City of Cambridge is facing important decisions about growth, development, city planning and services for citizens. Scott Hamilton has an understanding of the ecological, social and economic challenges facing our city. Scott has demonstrated capacity and skill at listening to voters and also working respectfully within and across interests at City Council. I am definitely voting for Scott Hamilton and will be happy to volunteer to help his campaign to be elected mayor.

-Michele Braniff, Former Green Party Candidate, Artist

  • We call ourselves 'Team Hass', and we have known Scott for over 7 years. We're lucky to call him a friend. As disability advocates, it is very important that we endorse Scott in his run for Mayor as his track record has proven over and over again how he cares for his fellor citizens. It's clear he is as proud as we are to call Cambridge his home. Among many of his accolades, which he remains modest about, his leading the 'snow shoveling for seniors and persons in need' has been welcome and much needed. We look forward to continuing to work with Scott on enhancing accessibility in our city. We have many ideas on how to accomplish this, and we know that Scott has many ideas to keep Cambridge thriving, and bring back empty areas back to life again. With Scott as our Mayor, our city can learn and grow, getting better and better. He works to keep the historical areas of Cambridge safe, while thinking ahead to the future and continuing to build us up where needed. He will put Cambridge 'back on the map'. Scott is also a dedicated husband and father, who wants to build this city for his family, the community, and future generations. 'Scott Hamilton, Mayor of Cambridge' sure does have a great ring to it! We support Scott for Mayor of Cambridge!

  • Scott Hamilton is one of those rare visionary Politicians who has gifts of communication, integrity, fairness and natural leadership qualities. Combined with his intellectual, competent and forward thinking approach, Scott sparks inspiration in others to join him in collaborative community building. He displays good sound judgement in making evidence-based decisions that are in Cambridge’s best interests. He has the courage to defend sometimes necessary positions for the public’s good to ensure economic and housing growth. Scott has stood up against others to advocate for best outcomes. He negotiates solutions in good faith. As Mayor when Scott was elected, I know he navigated conflict calmly under pressure. He brought thoughtful Motions to Council. He has a proven track record of voting to support businesses and economic growth, vital public services and a range of housing projects for residents. The future of Cambridge will be bright with Scott Hamilton as Mayor! I heartily endorse him as the next Mayor of Cambridge.

-Kathryn McGarry, Former Mayor of Cambridge (2018-2022), Current President of Ontario Liberal Party

  • I love Cambridge. I love raising my kids here. But as a young dad in this city it's getting harder and harder each year. Many millennials I know in town are in the same boat - we want the economical safety, stability and security we had growing up. Instead we are working harder and harder just to get by, and we are living in a city that doesn't seem to want to progress or keep up with the world's changes.

Hearing that Scott Hamilton was running for mayor was a breath of fresh air. Scott gets it. He's got young kids, he's working multiple jobs, he understands and lives the struggle we are all facing financially. If you watch his council record, you can see that he advocates for the economic development that helps the city, the growth that boosts our cores and makes this city the vibrant, thriving place I want for myself and my kids. His motions, his proposals, they are full of the energy and the optimism I want for Cambridge and for the mayor's office.

I wholeheartedly support Scott Hamilton for mayor. My family, my kids, my whole city, will be better off with Scott Hamilton as our mayor. His calm, rational, steady leadership is what we need in this turbulent time.

-Tyler Montague March, Designer, Musician, Father

  • l have lived in Cambridge all my life. I knew when l first met Scott Hamilton he would become an important visionary leader for our community. He is a breath of fresh air in council, and has infused energy and ideas demonstrating that he is a forward thinker, can engage people into action, and that he enjoys interacting with the public. Scott is extremely principled, accountable, respectful, conciliatory, and smart. l find his positivity and friendly demeanour a welcome change during these difficult times being a politician. I highly endorse Scott Hamilton to lead our community into the future as mayor.

-Mary Sanders-Adamson, Community Champion & Former WRDSB Administrator

  • Scott and his family were among the very first people I ever met while wearing my Spider-Man costume in public through my business. At the time, I was nervous and unsure of myself, but after our interaction Scott made an incredibly kind Facebook post about the experience that gave me the confidence to keep going and realize that what I was doing could genuinely make a positive difference in our community.

Years later, I still haven’t forgotten that encouragement.

That moment showed me exactly the kind of person Scott is; someone who uplifts people, supports local businesses, and genuinely cares about the people in Cambridge. He understands the importance of community, kindness, and creating opportunities for others to succeed.

As someone who works directly with families, schools, and community events across Cambridge, I’ve seen firsthand how important strong local leadership and positive community involvement can be. I truly believe Scott Hamilton is someone who wants to bring people together and make Cambridge an even better place for families and local businesses alike.

I’m proud to support Scott Hamilton for Mayor of Cambridge. He is a real Super-Hero.

    -Lucas McKenna

  • I worked with Scott Hamilton on a 'United Way X Captain Canuck' campaign to raise money for charity, and I’m sure glad I did. I was immediately thrust into his world of leadership, creativity, charity, and without question, his drive to simply do the right thing at all times.

Scott takes his commitments seriously. When he underwent an intense training regimen in order to become the second person ever to don the original, 50-year-old 'Captain Canuck' costume (that was discovered after being lost for 45 years!), he made sure that his efforts went to help others in need. I knew from this that he was a person dedicated to his community, and his energy inspires others to do better as well.

Scott's focus on helping others and making Cambridge a place for everyone, no matter their background, is a joy to witness. His forward-thinking and positive nature is what a city needs in such challenging times. Scott gives people hope. I'm excited to see him be the hero and mayor Cambridge deserves, and he’s welcome to don the Captain Canuck cowl again anytime!

  • Hi, my name is barry green I am a Special Olympics Ontario gold medal athlete. I endorse Scott Hamilton as Mayor for Cambridge, as he is always there for his Community. As a Special Olympics athlete, he always supports me and encourages me at all I do. Please vote for Scott Hamilton as mayor in the 2026 municipal election!

-Barry Green, Special Olympics Athlete (Gold Medalist, Bowling)

  • When Scott Hamilton joined the team I was on at United Way, I was excited to have the opportunity to work alongside someone with such an impressive reputation. What I quickly discovered was that his greatest strengths aren’t his accomplishments; they’re his character, his curiosity, and his commitment to people.

I miss the 'walk-and-talk' meetings that we would have at work. Scott would always meet with his team in a way that resonated most with them, and for our meetings, it was a brisk stroll outdoors that helped us trouble-shoot issues and brainstorm new opportunities.

Scott thinks outside the box, listens thoughtfully, and is always willing to lend a hand. He brings a strong academic background to every challenge, so he grasps complex ideas quickly; but what really sets him apart is how he uses that knowledge to lift others up and build consensus. He leads by connecting people, ideas, and opportunities.

It's these same qualities will make him an outstanding Mayor. Scott will be accessible, approachable, and deeply engaged with the community he serves. Cambridge is fortunate that he chose to raise his family here and invest his heart, energy, and intellect in the long-term health and prosperity of our city.

At a time when so much of the world feels divided into “us versus them,” Scott is a connector. He understands that strong communities are built through collaboration, healthy growth, and equitable systems that create opportunities for everyone. I have no doubt that he will help position Cambridge for a positive and sustainable future.

Cambridge is so lucky to have Scott Hamilton stepping forward to lead.

  • Mike Farnan, Former Cambridge MP, had an eye for political talent. I had the pleasure of meeting Scott Hamilton nearly ten years ago after Mike exclaimed something to the effect, “Bobbi! You have to meet this young man. He is fantastic, has a terrific background, and I want him to run for public office!”

So, of course, I called Scott and we set up a coffee. I was immediately struck by Scott’s positive, calm, confident manner, and his knowledge of the issues. Now, nearly ten years later, Scott has proven himself to be everything we thought he would be. He is a very well–educated politician. He does his research by reading up on the issues, looking for real evidence, and consulting with City staff and residents. He is a great listener and works as a team player on City Council. He speaks to the issues with passion, clarity, and respect.

Scott is a born collaborator, a charismatic leader.

Scott really cares. He loves Cambridge and wants to serve. He cares about the affordability crisis, the environment and climate change, affordable housing for all, food security, and human rights. He supports smart development that is handled collaboratively with community support. He is in it for his ward and for the whole city. It’s on his mind all the time.

Scott is supported by people of all political stripes. He’s a non-partisan leader. He knows that we have much more in common than what we have that’s different. He knows that in these very difficult times of division and hate, we need to listen carefully to each other with understanding, compassion and caring. And even in times city council faces extreme pressure, he stands up and makes the tough choices and decisions, because it’s the right thing to do for the city.

For all these reasons and more, I will be voting Scott Hamilton for Mayor. Please join me.

-Bobbi Stewart, Social Worker (retired) and community advocate

  • I believe it is our responsibility to do what we can to make our community and our world a better place. This occurs through what we say and what we do.

Some of us are provided greater opportunities than others, but we are all presented with opportunities to improve our communities.

I have known Scott for a number of years now and I believe he has done, and continues to do, whatever he can with the opportunities he's been presented with to make our community better and stronger.

Whether he's working to improve traffic safety, protecting Seniors, helping the homeless/hungry, those with physical limitations, or doing what's right to make businesses stronger in Cambridge -- or the host of other issues affecting everyday Cambridge residents -- Scott has committed through his actions that he will work to improve the lives of everyone in Cambridge.

I give my endorsement to Scott Hamilton's Mayoral Campaign. I believe he brings a passion for the 'Progress, Stability, and Hope' his campaign is built on, but I also believe he brings "Service over Self"!

Scott is here to work for ALL of us in making our community better.

Scott is one of those people who gets it.

-Pat Singleton, Former Executive Director of Cambridge Food Bank

  • As the father of a child with a disability, I have spent years advocating for accessibility, inclusion, and a community where my son can fully participate. Those experiences have taught me the importance of leadership that will sit down at the table and listen, and that is why I am proud to support Scott Hamilton for Mayor of Cambridge.

When you are raising a child with complex needs, you quickly learn who is willing to listen and who is willing to act. As my son has grown, I have fought for things many families take for granted: accessible spaces, opportunities to participate, and a voice in decisions that affect his future. Scott understands that building a stronger community means ensuring no one is left behind.

What stands out most about Scott is his willingness to hear different perspectives and bring people together. He understands that leadership is not about always being right or having all the answers. It is about working with the community to create a better future. Scott doesn't just talk about inclusion. He listens, learns, and leads with it in mind. The decisions we make today will shape the Cambridge our children inherit tomorrow. I believe Scott shares a vision of a city that is inclusive, accessible, and focused on the needs of future generations.

With Scott's leadership, I know Cambridge can become the community my son deserves to grow up in. For Holden, myself, and for many others who want a Cambridge where everyone belongs, Scott Hamilton is the right choice for Mayor.
